Breakdown Maintenance For some items of plant and machinery a breakdown maintenance policy
may be most appropriate since breakdowns may well be caused by
external influences and not due to lack of maintenance.
Fyfe Wilson offer various levels of cover to our customers. Our
outside staff benefit from comprehensive training and the backing of
well-equipped workshops capable of all mechanical and electrical
repairs plus an extensive stock of electro-mechanical components.
We shall be pleased to discuss what breakdown and/or maintenance
services you require.
Fyfe Wilson will produce maintenance programs to suit individual
company's plant and machinery and fulfil their individual needs
within the constraints of budgets.
Maintenance programmes incorporate a combination of all or some of
the following activities that have been broadly categorised into
three sections; planned preventative maintenance,
predictive
maintenance and breakdown maintenance.
Planned Preventative Maintenance
Fyfe Wilson set up and run regular routine programmes for plant and
machinery. The maintenance activities to be undertaken and the
recommended frequency are agreed at the onset of the contract.
Regular reviews will be set up to determine if the frequencies, and
the work carried out is appropriate.
Typical maintenance activities include:-
- Check and record correct operation of machinery
- Check and record correct operation of all safety devices
- Bearings - check condition, grease and oil as necessary
- Chains - check condition, clean and lubricate as necessary
- Hydraulic Systems - check for leaks, top up reservoir, change
filters
- Belt Drives - check belt and pullry condition, re-tension as
necessary
- Electric Motors - check loading, clean fan cowl, check bearings,
check brushes, check insulation resistance, etc.
Maintenance records will be set up and a copy will be updated and
left on site after each visit.
Predictive Maintenance
Fyfe Wilson offers a predictive maintenance service which may be
more appropriate and cost effective than a planned maintenance
programme. Plant and machinery that typically requires predictive
maintenance is machinery that is it were to fail would cause
considerable downtime and cost.
The following predictive maintenance activities are currently
offered to our clients:-
- Shock pulse bearing condition testing
- Dynamic balance testing and rectification
- Heat recording and trending
- Wear detection and monitoring
- Oil analysis
- Audible noise
- Electrical Insultation testing to 16th edition
- Electrical motor load and insulation testing
- Thermographic surveys of control and distribution panels
From the above a report would be generated indicating maintenance
activity that is required. Typically these would be quoted for and
contracted separately.
